China"s mold industry has developed rapidly in recent years. From 1996 to 2002, the output value of China"s mold manufacturing industry increased by about 14％ annually, and increased by about 25％ in 2003, reaching 45 billion yuan, about 5 billion US dollars, ranking third in the world. However, in terms of the current situation of China"s mold industry, the product structure is not reasonable. Most products are low-value products, and molds with high technical content still need to be imported. In 2002, China imported molds of US $1.272 billion, which shows that although China"s mold industry has developed rapidly, the supply still exceeds the demand compared with the demand. The main gap is in precision, large, complex and long-life molds. Luo Baihui, expert member of Shenzhen mould technology society and CEO of mould network, pointed out that at present, Chinese mould manufacturing enterprises must focus on improving product grade and reducing manufacturing costs, so as to realize the strategic transformation from a big mould country to a powerful mould country.

Luo Baihui pointed out that the mold industry should vigorously develop high value-added products, follow the line of precision, expertise and strength, and create new growth points in the blue ocean. In the future development, the mold industry should first pay more attention to the strategic adjustment of its product structure, so that the high-grade molds with complex structure and high precision can develop faster. China"s mold industry should closely follow the needs of the market. Without product demand and product upgrading, there will be no technological progress in the mold industry, and there will be no scale and grade of mold products. For example, more than 90％ of the parts in automobile production depend on mold forming. In the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta, the output value of molds supporting the automobile industry has increased by about 40％. The level of mold technology determines the product quality, benefit and new product development ability to a great extent. It has become an important symbol to measure the level of a country"s product manufacturing.

The development of mold industry must not rely solely on this industry, because it involves national policies, enterprise mechanism and production materials. However, the development of the mold industry in recent years is enough to make people believe that China"s mold level will soon be among the world"s advanced mold level.
